Frank Lampard to Chelsea ball is rolling after Derby County permission
Derby has allowed Frank Lampard permission to talk with his old club, Chelsea as they act swiftly to replace now Juventus manager, Maurizio Sarri.
Ex-English international and Chelsea legend has been the only name mentioned in the weeks following the departure of Sarri to the Italian club, Juventus. No naming of Jose Mourinho or any other suitor has come up.
This leaves Sky Sports to believe the publication of Lampard to Stamford Bridge should happen this week still before the month ends. This after Derby County allowed the 41-year-old to meet with the London club.
Sky Sports reports:
"Derby County Football Club can confirm that they have granted permission for Chelsea Football Club to speak to Frank Lampard about the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge. With pre-season fast approaching for both clubs, it is hoped this will allow Chelsea to swiftly conclude their discussions. The club will make no further comment until it is appropriate to do so."

Derby makes all the business sense in the world
The season is fast approaching and both clubs need to dive into preparations for upcoming events. If they are stuck between a Lampard tug of war, they could derail their own campaign before it even takes off.
Chelsea learnt their lesson prior to this summer after a long dispute over the exit of Antonio Conte and the arrival of Sarri. Everything in the deal just left a sour taste in the mouth!
Before the end of the week
The Announcement could be as soon as by the end of the week if all goes to plan for the Blues and Frank. Reporter Rob Dorsett of Sky discusses the full move and maintains the Englishman could join the Premier League soon in Chelsea colours.
"There’s no surprise here – we’ve reported in the last few weeks that we expected Frank Lampard to be approached and that we thought he would accept. The only surprise perhaps is that it’s taken Chelsea so long to do it; Maurizio Sarri left nine days ago and it’s only on Tuesday that Chelsea have made that first approach.I would expect things to move pretty quickly from here – certainly before the end of this week, Lampard is expected to be in post as the new Chelsea manager.
