Liverpool’s ready to award one of their most reliable players with a new contract. Milner’s contract only expires next summer, but now is the time to renew.

There is no need to explain how the Liverpool public responded when Milner joined the Reds in the summer of 2015 on a free transfer. The only team to recognise the workhorse being shipped into the Merseyside shores was the team he was departing from, Man City.

What came next was absolutely professional and was carried out with a 150% effort. If there’s one player, that if required to stand between the poles in a penalty shootout because of a goalkeeper red, and all the substitutions made, then go on to win the game with a save, it’s James Milner.

More from Liverpool FC

He has been deployed all over the pitch for Jurgen Klopp, and normally being a jack of all trades never allows you to become a master of one. Shockingly, this Englishman has been a master of all those slots his filled in, in his time at Anfield.

Milner formed part of a formidable attack in the 2017-2018

The Reds boasted one of the most ruthless attacking teams in the Champions League 2017-18 run if not, the best-attacking team under Klopp.

In their first season back the team from England broke the record for most goals in a single Champions League campaign with 47 goals.

This was caused by the force of the flamboyant front three. But also cause of the perpetual supply from the players around them. James Milner was forefront and the most nutritious supplement. He was crowned the assist king of the 2017-18 UCL with nine assists.

Following this, Milner has always been on the money when he stepped up to the spot from 12-yards out and has taken over from ex-captain Steven Gerrard, seamlessly.

He’s not even a backup player!

At 33-years-old, he doesn’t even fit in as a backup to any player. He is a big part of Klopp’s team and what he needs to be done on the pitch, Milner translates for the manager effortlessly. The contract talks will commence after the Champions League concludes according to reports.

A great way to boost your most experienced player just before the all-important final!
