Man City smiles after they discover Juventus have taken their hands off Pep Guardiola, turning their attention towards Maurizio Sarri as the top target for the vacant manager’s post.

The Old Lady is stirring the pot in the English Premier League, unsettling all the of the top-six clubs if they have to, in their search for a new man to steady her (the Old Lady) ship. So far they have disrupted the camps of Liverpool, Man City, and now Chelsea.

Original interests were said to be for the Reds’ Jurgen Klopp but prizing the vibrant German away from Anfield, a place where he is highly appreciated and respected would receive an answer of no or, not at all going to happen.

That, and he has an open-end project with FSG and the club. No manager with his much freedom would leave their current position, or should I see Luxury.

After the pursuit of the ex-BVB man ended, quickly the headlines rang Pep, Pep, and not, Klopp, Klopp. Trusted journalists from respected outlets in Italy were converted into believing Pep was on route to signing a four-year deal with the Turin side and will join before the summer.

While the links between Pep and the Old Lady got heated and then cooled down, Juve openly admitted to wanting Maurizio Sarri over any other manager. Killing all other links right then and there.

Is this good or bad news for Sarri and Chelsea?

A couple of days back it was reported Chelsea was ready to offload the Italian. Rumours of Frank Lampard or Emma Hayes to take over from Sarri after the deed was done, circulated for a few days.

If rumours are true that “Sarri Ball” and its architect is no longer wanted, Sarri could be smiling all the way to Turin, bags packed and eager to ship off.

Yet, the reality is…

The reality is that Maurizio has done everything he’s supposed to at the club. Get the Stamford Bridge crowd back to the Champions League, while reaching two cup finals.

Unfortunately, they faced off against a flawless Man City team in one and came out second best. Not too bad for a man wanted by the Serie A champs. Chelsea would be silly to let go of the Italian.
