Chelsea take third place after West Ham victory – The Premier League is back to where it started
The teams who occupied the top-three slots at the beginning of the campaign arrests the same three spots after Chelsea take third place late on in the campaign.
Only two changes were made by the Chelsea boss in Monday night’s victory over West Ham. Back-to-back starts for Callum Hudson-Odoi was met with consecutive wins. However, the star of the show was once again Eden Hazard.
The only two goals of the game were scored by the Belgian forward, as he lingers on this hot run of form. That’s three goals in two games for him, that have unquestionably aided Chelsea’s lift in the Premier League standings.

The game was closely contested with there being a single goal between the two teams for 70 minutes of the match. It was all Chelsea but their frustration not to complete all their moves going forward kept a small window open for the Hammers to upset.
However, they took none of the opportunities afforded to them in front of goal and that window was shut by the Stamford Bridge side before the final whistle was blown. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was a live wire in the midfield for the Blues and was the assistant for Hazard’s first of the game.
The first goal came in the 24th minute of the first half. The second and final goal came in the final minutes of the second half. A portion of individual brilliance by the world-class Hazard was the cause of the first goal. If he wasn’t valued at £100 by Real Madrid before the West Ham win, he surely is worth £150 million now.
The Bridge was sturdy at the back and was, therefore, unbreakable. What counted against West Ham, Kepa Arrizabalaga was on his best behaviour as he eased in another clean sheet for the season. He only had to make two saves the whole night, but those saves were crucial ones worthy of three points and a third-place finish after Matchday 33.
Chelsea takes third place at the right time
With only five games left to battle for a Champions League spot, Sarri and his London side take third place with impeccable timing. The run of games doesn’t assure they will keep fourth place till the end of the season, yet, if they overcome Liverpool who they meet at Anfield next, they’ll have one hand on a Champions League place.
Three wins in as many games on the bounce back from their miserable Everton loss. The Changes made by the manager has set the Blues track, back on that winning tune. The next five fixtures for Chelsea are Liverpool (A); Burnley (H); Man United (A); Watford (H); Leicester City (A).
