English Premier League: Southampton’s ready for Liverpool visit
Liverpool has another chance to go to the top of the Premier League but this time it will not be easy coming up against Southampton.
All to play for
It will be the first time the Austrian manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will meet the German manager, Jurgen Klopp. If this was the old Mark Hughes at the helm, the match would have been over before it kicked off and the points would have undoubtedly gone home with the Reds.
Now the Saints have a game plan and a way of football that has been rewarding to them. After seeing out a one-goal victory against Brighton last weekend away from home, the Saints remain out of the relegation zone’s clutches. Five points above the fall and the confidence of taking down a top-six side inside St. Mary’s after already stealing three from Spurs in dramatic fashion.
The visiting team comes to St Mary’s Stadium full of confidence as well, after beating the same team (Spurs) at Anfield in last weekend’s “Super Sunday” feature. The Reds lost the summit of the Premier League to the champions, Man City after the Citizens killed off Cardiff City with ease. Eight changes made by Pep delivered the same results. Three points and back to the top for them.

Liverpool can take back the number one slot, but it will come with much difficulty. One point between them and City and only six games left before we know what club of the two has their hands on the title at the end of the season.
Top talking points for tonight
Starting with the travelling manager and how his basket is getting fuller. Almost a full squad to choose from after many returning players. The best news for all of Reds is that of Joe Gomez and him returning to full training.
The home side faces a selection dilemma as on-loan striker Danny Ings is unavailable to face his parenting club. Striking partner Shane Long is a doubt as well as, Mario Lemina and Jannik Vestergaard who faces late fitness tests. Michael Obafemi is the other player out for Southampton.
What adds fuel to the fire is; this is Southampton A versus Southampton B/Liverpool A versus Liverpool B fixture. Virgil comes to St. Mary’s for the very first time since his ugly transfer saga. The Saints are known to be very hostile towards their former Saints. Four players will return home to face their old club.
Adam Lallana; Sadio Mane; Dejan Lovren and Virgil van Dijk. Big match coming up for both clubs.
