Ben Chilwell looks set to leave Leicester City in the summer window for English foes Man City after many reports suggest Ben has headed the list of Pep’s plans.

Man City currently second in the Premier League standings, two points behind Liverpool but carry a game in hand. It’s been a far tougher run in the Premier League with Liverpool pushing them to produce their best week in and week out.

When the league reached the midway point it looked as if Pep’s men were almost out of the title race. However, thanks to a couple of poor performances from their title challengers, Liverpool and a string of perfect results from the Manchester side, the two look as if they’ll cross the finish line a split second from each other in a 100m sprint.

Man City’s left back situation

Their current situation at the back has been hampered once again by another no-show from left-back Benjamin Mendy. The France international has featured a measly 10 times for City this season across all competitions. One in the Champions League and nine in the Premier League.

His short spell in the Premier League emphasises on his importance to Pep and why there is such a big need for a fullback of his quality. In those nine outings, Mendy provided five assists.

Fabian Delph is also reaching the latter stages of his career and will serve better as a backup to a more fitted and natural left-back. The Englishman is not as attacking as the Frenchman, even though he packs a punch from outside the box. This leaves Pep with little to no option, but to dip into the transfer market.

Ben Chilwell will make the perfect Pep signing

Brendan Rodgers has just arrived at Leicester City and already one of biggest transfers will be to fend off Premier League champions Man City from attracting their attacking left back from King Power. Chilwell has always been linked with moves to clubs above Leicester, but this is the first the Citizens have been linked with the Englishman.

"So I know how good he is, he wasn’t in the first team though. But I’m pretty relaxed about it. He’s a wonderful young player, he’s still got a lot to learn in his game. He really enjoys being here, we’ll see how it pans out but he’s certainly one we don’t want to lose."

The Foxes’ manager had to come out and assure the Leicester faithful Ben is going nowhere and he will remain at the club till the summer window closes. This could be far-fetched as Man City struggled with defensive problems, having to swap around players and play them out of position.

Ben’s attributes all suit Pep’s style of play and at his age, he can really establish him as England’s first choice over the others fighting for the position. Goal.com has said the 2017-2018 champions are set to make a holding midfielder and left back their priority signings this season.

Man City will face competition from Liverpool and Tottenham for Ben Chilwell’s signature. Nothing has been confirmed as final, but what Man City, Man City normally gets.
