Zinedine Zidane to Real Madrid – Where does this leave Jose Mourinho
As reported by Sky Sports, Real Madrid have announced Zinedine Zidane as the new manager of the club. Where exactly does this leave Jose Mourinho and a possible return to management?
Real Madrid has a new man to see them through for the rest of the season and further on till the year 2022. A string of poor performances, an exit from the Copa del Rey, as well as from the Champions League has left Madrid no choice but part ways with Santiago Solari.
The Spanish giants acted promptly to replace him with a new man. A new man with a familiar face in Zinedine Zidane. This comes as no surprise as the Spanish club made it known who their possible suitors were for now and the near future.
It was said the club would search for a manager to guide them to a steady finish to the end of the season, making sure they end in a Champions League position. The decision for a longterm boss was to be made at the end of the season, as reports suggested.

Now it seems they’ve changed their stance
As reported by the club and Sky Sports, Zizou has been contracted to Real Madrid till the year 2022. That indicates many things and not just that it’s he will stay at the club for the next three years following his signing of the new deal.
It lets us know Real Madrid are happy with Zidane and that they’ve eventually come to their senses this is the best man for the job. The other two ongoing talks that will probably be put to bed is, will Eden Hazard be at Real Madrid by the time the summer transfer window closes?
The third and final point, Jose Mourinho and his failure to land the Madrid job.

Where does this leave The Special One?
The aforementioned leaves Jose Mourinho without a return to his old club. Before this, the club’s ex-president Ramon Calderon spoke out saying Jose was at the head of the list, but Zidane was always an option and only for a short term stay.
He (Ramon Calderon) then changed his tune soon after the appointment of the Frenchman, saying why the La Liga and English Premier League winner missed out on the opening.
"“Dressing room leaders” at Real Madrid rejected Jose Mourinho’s return to the Bernabeu in favour of Zinedine Zidane."
He added to this by saying…
"He left [Real Madrid] a lot of problems and I think he would have been another problem to the ones we already have if he had come.I think Jose Mourinho would have been a step backwards, there was a lot of problems and controversy when he was here. via Sky Sports"
There is currently no news on where and what the Portuguese will do now and if next season we will see him with a new club. A return to his old club Chelsea is definitely off the cards after the ugly ending to his last stint.
Very difficult to predict if it’s the English Premier League, Serie A, or the La Liga that he will end up at.
