The bookies are on red alert as Zinedine Zidane is tipped to become the next Chelsea head coach.

Will Zinedine Zidane become the next Chelsea manager? Maurizio Sarri’s tenure at Stamford Bridge could come to a swift close. Chelsea is 15 points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The Blues appointed Sarri in July 2019, replacing compatriot Antonio Conte. The current Chelsea manager has called out his players, claiming they are difficult to motivate. Sarri’s team selection has been brought into question over N’Golo Kanté’s role in the side.

Kanté is arguably one of the best holding midfielders in the world, yet Sarri continues to play the Frenchman out of position.

Chelsea’s framework doesn’t lend itself to a long-term manager, so another managerial change isn’t a surprise. Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville gave his take on the situation.

"Sarri knows he’s going to get sacked at some point in the next 18 months or two years, that’s inevitable at Chelsea. He may as well call it how he sees it in the first six months when he’s got a little bit of control. via talksport.com"

The rumour mill is building momentum, Roman Abramovich could be on the verge of appointing his 14th managerial appointment since his takeover of the club in 2003. Zidane is the bookies’ favourite for the Chelsea hot seat.  Zidane has laid down his conditions for becoming the new man in-the-dugout, including a £200m transfer kitty, that’s according to Spanish publication as.com

Zidane is a high-profile head coach. The Frenchman led Real Madrid to the Champions League Final on three consecutive occasions, winning back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018, respectively. In the 2016/17 season, Los Blancos won La Liga under Zidane’s guidance.

Chelsea takes on Manchester United in the FA Cup Fifth Round this evening. The Blues are looking to bounce back after a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Manchester City. Abramovich has got tough decisions to make, he could stick with Sarri and allow him time to adapt to the English game and rebuild bridges with his squad.

His other option is to pull the trigger on Sarri. Chelsea is in danger of sliding down the league table, an unacceptable situation at SW6.
