The direct implications, of course, rely upon Saturday’s results, but certain scenarios are interesting to ponder.

Chelsea could remain in fourth, or plummet out of a secure CL spot and plunge themselves into the depths of a tense race with United and Arsenal for that precious position.

More from The Top Flight

Manchester City will either maintain a lead solely based on goal differential, although Liverpool has a game in hand or grow an even lengthier lead by 2 or 3 points.

Manchester City fans are wishing for a Liverpool loss or draw, which would give their side the opportunity to regain their lead with a draw, at the very least. The Reds have played one less game, however, so a lead would not actually be as commanding as it initially may seem. City’s victory will prevent Liverpool from moving ahead, however, a Liverpool win and City loss or draw would delight the Anfield faithful, as Klopp’s men would reclaim their lead.

Chelsea is a conundrum in many ways, yet they possess enough talent to be a UCL team next season, thus there is major significance to the fourth spot in the table. UCL brings in a fairly large amount of revenue, which these clubs dearly want, it is a business after all. Therefore, any points in securing this slot are vital. Arsenal and United will not cease and gaining such points against such a significant opponent would add extra satisfaction to it.
