Teams of Tottenham’s status normally progress in form, style and results. Unfortunately, Mauricio has struggled to do just that. But in every grey cloud there is a silver lining.
What’s the best thing about an international break? Nothing at all. Just keep telling yourself, it’s coming and club football is around the corner. One thing it makes good for, a lot of useless information and sometimes some great reading material.
In this post we talk about Spurs, a team left behind by the rest of the top three, four teams in the league. But things can change and the season is still long with many games to be played. Spurs was in charge of North London for a couple of seasons while the Gunners were in the process of looking for a predecessor for the 22-year man, Arsene Wenger.
After this was sorted and a couple of millions adding in attack, midfield and defence, and the Gunners are back with what they call “Emery Ball”. Not the complete package and many things to learn still under Unai, but already fighting with Spurs for fourth place.
Spurs record for the season; 12P; 9W; 0D; 3L

Yes, Pochettino has had it rough considering their Champions League run and the three losses to many, in what’s suppose to be their title chase. Nobody in this world foresaw another two teams going unbeaten with the Premier League champions of last season, Manchester City.
It’s the type of campaign where if you lose, you miss your chances of lifting the title. Now that Spurs have already lost three and must come up against some of the other top six and face a new look North London derby – it’s safe to say their Premier League gold medal must take a backseat.
Now with all being said, there really isn’t much that you can show that really betters such a disappointing campaign. Well, for Spurs, they can be glad not all their performances have been bad and they have that bit of silver lining. Three losses all came at Wembley while they kept the perfect away record, when they took all the points over the weekend at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace.
They’ve now become the Premier League team with the most away wins for 2018. That’s a small glimpse of something to hold onto while you watching the league slip away from you. Do they build on this, or pack up and say it’s a little too late? Early days…
