Chelsea: Maurizio Sarri know the name – He’s here to stay at Stamford Bridge
The second Italian to take charge in consecutive seasons. Many will question is he better than his predecessor Antonio Conte? My answer is simply… Yes!
A man with a BIG plan! That’s what comes to the mind when thinking about the latest Italian addition to the English Premier League. Not that much swag as the man before him, but no fake approach with his haircut a plain and simple one – “number one please barber”. The man before him, a toupee away from a middle shiner.
Yes, Antonio Conte has a toupee and because of this Sarri’s whole straight forward approach, haircut and all, leaves a lasting impression. The two show contrasting attitudes, but have a similar sense of humour after watching both in press conferences.
The one thing that both men have done in equal greatness? Made a massive impact in their maiden seasons. After Conte was the first manager in the history of the English Premier League to win the title in his first stint as a Blues’ manager, you would ask what can his successor manage in order to better this feat?

Well here’s the answer
Maurizio Sarri has flawlessly installed his idea and methods into all at Chelsea. Not one player hasn’t bought into what he is selling, which we could name, selling the team white gold. There’s so many aspects of the Blues’ games that stands out and justifies their third-place standing in the English Premier League.
The most notable improvements in Chelsea are the passing game that’s been adopted, the defensive quality and the all around change from being a defensive minded team to one of the most attacking teams in the league. Basically, a well-balanced squad.
Eden Hazard being mooted to be dubbed the next Premier League Player of the Season, as the Italian brings out a sleeping world-class player in the winger. The other most standout factor of this man with no filters is that in all of Europe’s top-five leagues, Chelsea the team from Stamford Bridge is the only team that remains undefeated across all competitions.
In the Europa League they boast the perfect run of four wins from four. In the Premier League they boast a record of 12P; 8W; 4D; 0L so far. This is nothing short of astonishing from the new man at the helm, steering Chelsea to the third title challenge in six seasons.
The only difference between then and now…
Conte took charge of Chelsea at the right time. City was under reconstruction and so was some of the other top-six sides. Spurs was the only team seriously competitive at the time. And if they were the only team who mounted a serious shot, it couldn’t have been that great.
Now with Sarri pushing this unmoved run of games across all of Europe and most importantly in the domestic run. The difference between his time and Conte’s in the past? Sarri has to compete with the likes of Manchester City at the peak of their powers and an extremely competitive contenders in Liverpool.
So taking that and the easiness of Antonio’s run, I’ve got to say Roman Abramovich found the perfect replacement.
A tip of the hat from The Top Flight to a man filling his countryman’s shoes and even going to the extend of exceeding expectations. The fight for the crown in England has excelled to a level no other league can compete with. So no title this season will not be regarded as a failure.
