English Premier League: The top three race continues after Sunday’s victories
The race goes on in the English Premier League. The pace was set on Saturday and the chase made up by the three powerhouses, who remain unbeaten for the season so far.
Liverpool’s away draw to Arsenal over at the Emirates on Saturday set a slow pace for Manchester City and Chelsea to keep up with. Both Chelsea and City, capitalised with big victories over their opponents. Pep’s men never any doubt of them killing off Southampton by six goals to one.
Chelsea participated in a London derby where things could have gone wrong but didn’t – thanks to Alvaro Morata’s brace in the last fixture of the weekend. This leaves the standings as it was a fortnight ago, before Chelsea could only manage a draw against a United side out of favour.
Manchester City remains the team to beat and play exactly the way they need to in order to defend their title. The Blues, in a time where a big three points and huge goal margin was needed, Sarri’s men delivered and placed themselves above Liverpool again, and that’s in second place. Liverpool did what they needed to in the travelling event, but could have done more after losing a lead taken after the 70th minute of the game.
Unbeaten for 11. One thing is surely being threatened by these three magical sides…The Gunners invincible record. There has certainly been no signs of the top-three teams dropping points in a loss. Yes, they will draw a game or two, but that’s about as much as they allowing things to slip out of their hands.
Manchester City 6-1 Southampton

As it seems now, the highest paid Englishman is worth every penny spent. The new £300-per-week winger almost took the match ball home. Raheem Sterling and co were too much for Mark Hughes’ Saints.
Four goals in the first half which included an own goal, and two in the second half made the penalty from Ings a mere consolation goal for Southampton. Hughes puts his men in the fires of hell after yet another poor performance. A result which is a true nature of the different things going on at both clubs.
Chelsea 3-1 Crystal Palace
Palace were three goals better than the Saints on Sunday – Not as bad but still not up to standard of a Palace we’ve come accustomed to seeing before the 2018-2019 campaign kicked off. There was a point in the game it looked as if the Eagles were back in it.
Sadly for them, Sarri’s number 9 led the way, giving Roy’s men no way back in.
Hazard wasn’t needed until the second half of the match, proving the Blues have over enough personnel to get all three points in any encounter. The two conceded by the Eagles in the second half was early enough to let them they know there was no way back in it for them.
All it did was set us up for one hell of a Manchester derby coming the weekend. Man United’s biggest part to play in this season’s campaign comes at them when they face their inform neighbours, Man City.
