It’s the last of Matchday 9 action in the English Premier League and what better way to end proceedings than have Arsenal host Leicester City in search of their 7th win in a row.

Last season this two met in the opening fixture of the English Premier League 2017/18 campaign in some Friday Night Football action. Arsenal, then under the stewardship of longterm servant, Arsene Wenger, led his venerated Gunners to a 4-3 victory inside the Emirates.

A seven goal thriller? Can we expect more of the same? Not exactly. A new manager on either end of the pitch, therefore much will be different for those at the Emirates witnessing this encounter later this evening.

Arsenal’s return to fame

More from Arsenal

Unai has got his Gunners firing on all cylinders after a slow start to life in the English Premier League. It was always going to be a season of near success and promising moments that could still lead to failure.

Fortunately, those moments haven’t arrived for the Gunners as they ride the unbeaten wave, over a six game period. If they take three points here in this one, they will move above neighbouring rivals, Tottenham. If they manage to go and get a victory of three goals or more, well then, Emery and Arsenal are in third place for the first time this season.

That’s impressive for a team who are in the beginning part of their new era. They have everything in their favour to keep going with a fit squad. The team along with the new signings are clicking and playing what they call “Emery Ball” which is in turn, extremely exciting football.

Leicester out of their comfort zone on their travels

The Foxes sit in 11th place on the English Premier League table with 12 points. They have one of the best chances to jump up three places into eighth place. That’s ahead of Everton, Wolves and Man United, respectively.

They too have a side not under real injury threat and are exactly where they need to be. It will be a tall order for Leicester to take all the points, or even a point, but nothing suggests they cannot achieve it. It’s just a tough ask considering the two’s form before the match.

Next. A Top Flight Throwback. dark

A win and a loss in their last two is enough evidence to display how inconsistent the Foxes has been. A win could set them on a good run of games after this, with them having one of the smoothest runs in the next six fixtures.

Out of the last four meetings, Leicester has only seen success in one fixture. That tie was held at the King Power stadium in their most recent meeting, where they beat the Gunners by three goals to one. But that is a different Arsenal who were as weak as a team facing a relegation battle. Much has changed since then.
