Chelsea: Eden Hazard can hit new heights under Maurizio Sarri
Maurizio Sarri’s brought his many talents to Stamford Bridge, where his fluid methods of playing have fans excited.
The decision to bring Maurizio Sarri to Chelsea was one greeted with ecstasy from Blues fans. After a successful couple of years under the defensive-minded Antonio Conte, it was time to bring beautiful football back to Stamford Bridge.
Maurizio Sarri is a rare form of manager, as he barely had a playing career and worked his way up a massive managerial ladder. 18. That’s the number of clubs Sarri had managed before moving to Chelsea, and you wouldn’t be able to recognize most of their names or crests. His most recent spell was a relatively successful one with Napoli, where he unfortunately didn’t win a trophy, but won over a boatload of football fans due to his fluid, expressive style of football.
Eden Hazard’s career is waiting to hit a new level, and Maurizio Sarri may just be the man to get him there.
One player who will be licking his lips over this appointment will be Eden Hazard, who must have been longing for an attacking manager that can maximize his impact and output. Even through 3 games this season, Hazard has put up 1 goal and 2 assists, which is already half the amount of assists he picked up in the whole of last season.

Many have accused Hazard of stagnating for too long, and although he is a two-time Premier League champion and a former Player of the Year, they may have a point. Hazard is a world-class footballer beyond any doubt, but clearly has the ability to hit new heights, and this change in management may spark that.
Sarri’s front 3 of Insigne, Mertens, and Callejon at Napoli was fluid, creative, and impossible to mark, which is what Chelsea’s attacking line could become in the near future. Even Dries Mertens, who has played as a winger for most of his career, was transformed into an all-action centre-forward by Sarri. This could be something that Sarri sees in Hazard as well, only time will tell.
One thing is certain, Eden Hazard’s potential may have got even bigger with Sarri guiding him. It’s an exciting time for football fans that have wanted to see Hazard blossom to the pinnacles of football.
