A funny day in the transfer window yesterday, with reports settling on either side of the coin flip for the transfer of Willian from Chelsea to Barcelona.
How hard has it been for Chelsea this summer window? At the risk of losing an array of first team players this summer, is not a small pill to swallow. It seems that the Blues biggest threats are on the verge of quitting Stamford Bridge for Spanish suitors, or even arch rivals.
Eden Hazard has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, as well as Belgium compatriot, Thibaut Courtois. With the latter said to have a deal in place in principle. The former of the two is said to be open to a move with reports suggesting a £100 million bid will be put down for the potent winger.
With news of them already losing these two above mentioned players, one would think they not ready to lose their other assets. However, it appears that Willian, who has long been a subject of a transfer out of the club and a contract dispute, could also be on his way out the doors at the Bridge.

News took different turns in quick successions – first there were reports of the bid being accepted, and then reports directly after, of nothing being agreed upon. If the paper talks are true, this is the third bid Chelsea has denied from the Catalan side.
The London club is said to be holding out for the £70 million they evaluate the player at and are well aware of Manchester United sniffing around for Jose’s favourite boy. HOWEVER! And this is a big however, United’s hierarchy are not in support of the amount the Blues are asking for.
United feel the winger is a bit too old for the asking price and are prepared to search elsewhere. Unless, United and Chelsea can strike a deal for want away, Anthony Martial and Willian. A swap deal could be considered, but have a problem with the Brazilian as he prefers a move to Spain with Barcelona.
What counts against the forward is the recent hijack of Malcom by Barcelona. They now could stop their pursuit of Willian altogether.
