Southampton: Stuart Armstrong is Mark Hughes first signing of the summer
Two teams always doing business are these two clubs. Therefore, I cannot understand why the Saints hate Liverpool for doing the exact thing to them?
Anyway, back to the business taking place at St. Mary’s. The club who was saved by the man I’m still not convinced is the way forward for them. Then again, I’ve been wrong many times before.
Mark Hughes saw his previous club get relegated after he threw in the towel, leaving Paul Lambert with a job not for the faint hearted. However, after the Saints announced the sacking of ex-boss, Mauricio Pellegrino, the Southampton side grabbed the recently available, Mark Hughes.

Whoever took on the job at St. Mary’s was in for battle and that’s exactly what Hughes did, was battle. The 54-year-old did the job and did it with a game or two to spare before the league campaign concluded.
The task he’s faced with now
The Welshman must make sure Southampton start the season off in far better fashion than previously. By doing so he will have to construct a far better side than what he did over at BET365.
The caliber of players over there were not of poor quality. No, completely the opposite actually. Some heavy hitters joined the roster at Stoke City and with Hughes’ pull – he could convince some of the better players to work at the South side too.
The player who Hughes’ sets his summer off with is a smart and necessary inclusion.
The first step towards a working team
St. Mary’s welcomes their first new saint to the club, St. Stuart Armstrong. The midfielder completed a move from Celtic (Southampton’s feeder team) yesterday according to SAINTS MARCHING.
Stuart Armstrong’s last season at Celtic, he made 53 appearances and scored only four goals for the club. That’s quite the underwhelming stat considering they (Southampton) struggled in front of goal and only netted 37 times in their Premier League run.
Next: Wilshere no longer a Gunner
When taking it over a longer stretch, throughout his whole career as a Celtic, he was quite successful. Yes we all know the Scottish Premiership is not as demanding as the English Premier League, but it’s the winning mentality the player brings into a club with no will to win, and playing to survive is not enough.
The Scotsman comes in also due to the Saints losing their talisman, Dusan Tadic to Dutch outfit, Ajax. A massive blow but if the dutch side are able to play in European competitions – why not take the trip over to the Nederland.
A pretty decent transfer made by Mark Hughes in his first full season at St. Mary’s.
