The defender involved in a tug of war has finally chosen a side in the English Premier League.

Issa Diop is expected to be a West Ham player after he completes his medical, which was reported to be some time today but is yet to take place. Other problems have been the hiccup in the deal not being completed.

The defender has been a hot transfer for the Hammers, Everton and Fulham, with the player opting to take his game time up in the London Stadium. The Toulouse centre back is one for the future at 21-year-old, according reports out of France.

Considered to be a leader but not the end product, Diop comes from a side that battled to stay in the French top league, Ligue 1, this season past.

This is probably why the player is on the move and in search of first team football at the highest level. Well, he certainly forgot to check West Ham’s campaign then.

Problems stalling the deal… Or not

It was reported both clubs agreed on a transfer fee of around £22 million and are at a stop because of the player and the club struggling to agree on personal terms. It is said to be wide off from with the player expected from the club.

The deal is set be five-years long and wages the only problem at the moment. West Ham want to finish the business as soon as possible, because of new investors taking over at the club, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Going for Issa Diop as priority signing is a great start by the new West Ham manager, Pellegrini. The Hammers equalled the record for most goals conceded (68) last season. Relegated Stoke City was the other team who managed the same mammoth amount.

Pellegrini has an aged backline, who has already lost the stewardship of 11-year servant, James Collins. The second loss in defence for the London side was Patrice Evra. That’s two of the backline already missing from last season’s squad. Numbers need to be added.

Hopefully for West Ham, a deal can be solved soonest and the player can be announced as their new defender. The only reports that a deal is complete has come from the Daily Star.
