World Cup: Leroy Sane’s omission from travels to Russia is understandable
By Nhan Doan
Without Lionel Messi and the talented Barcelona midfield that he used to have, Guardiola has changed his game from controlling the midfield to creating the mismatch isolation in the wide area.
Douglas Costa, Kingsley Coman, Sane and Raheem Sterling, have been the system players that thrived under the manager’s guidance.

Both Costa and Coman have struggled after Guardiola left Bayern Munich, which showcased their lack of tactical versatility.
On the other hand, Low has changed his team from a lethal blitzkrieg style that we saw in South Africa to a more patient, possession-based side.
Playmakers such as Mesut Ozil and Draxler are usually pushed to the wide area to control the possession and create the spaces to the overlapping fullbacks in the byline, who are entrusted to deliver the perfect crosses.
Sane is definitely good enough to be considered for a call-up, but he struggles to fit the system without the freedom to hug the touchline. The winger has made 12 appearances for the national team without making any impacts, scoring zero goals and providing one assist.
On the other hand, both Reus and Brandt are capable of playmaking duty, making themselves more suited to Low’s team.
