The Blues want to keep their battle for a top-four spot going, whilst Huddersfield must win to avoid relegation when the two meet this evening.

Chelsea will host Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge, as they look to continue their hard work and qualify for the Champions League for a successive season. This, after being least likely to get a top-four finish in a terrible, title-defending campaign once again.

The Blues kept their hope alive after beating Liverpool 1-0, this Sunday past. The Londoners are 5th in the standings with 69 points, two points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who are going to face Newcastle today as well.

Huddersfield will fight with all their strength to steal another victory from a top-six team to avoid the relegation zone. Especially now that Southampton defeated Swansea yesterday, which applies more pressure on the rivals in who would join West Brom and Stoke City, to be the next team relegated this season.

Chelsea believe in a historical advantage to succeed at home

As stated by BBC Sports, Andreas Christensen, Davide Zappacosta, Pedro, Willian and Alvaro Morata could be in the starting 11, chosen by manager Conte.

Morata, who may certainly leave England to rejoins to Juventus in the summer, might be playing for the last time at Stamford Bridge. Therefore, the chance to watch him in the first team is increasingly high.

If Chelsea gets a victory tonight, it will be five wins in a row for the first time in the 2017/18 campaign. This helps identify Chelsea were nowhere near ready to mount a challenge on all fronts.

They’ve only managed an impressive run while not being involved in the Champions League. Despite the rumours involving Antonio Conte’s future, the Italian said he is only focused on the present.

"“I’m very focused on the present, to do the job in the best way for the players and the fans.“Our job is not simple, it’s not easy. But I’m totally focused on the present.”"

Huddersfield ready to steal a win away

More from The Top Flight

Huddersfield has had a difficult situation, with one of the lowest scores in the league, totalling 27 goals. This, plus they have to fight to avoid relegation in a battle with Swansea and Southampton. It could cost them highly if they don’t beat Chelsea tonight.

Tuesday, we saw Southampton beat Swansea, and what does it mean? It means that a Huddersfield win will put them in a good position before the weekend’s final fixtures. A loss sees them the closest team to relegation when they have their final meetings on Matchday 38.

The fans suffered bad news as they expected to have no Chris Löwe and Terence Kongolo, who will be rested after they suffered injuries, respectively. However, Tom Ince returns to be available for the squad, which is a major boost for Wagner.

Next: Stoke City relegated to the Championship

"“We will try to make an impossible task possible. We have to be focused on our performance and on reaching our highest level.“It’s clear that we need some further points to secure our Premier League status.”"
