With Emre Can out for the season, the speculation for a move to Juventus has increased. A standard starter for Klopp could be gone sooner rather than later.

Can’s injury has turned out to be worse than initially feared. The German international now faces a tight window to be fully fit in time for this summer’s World Cup; something he surely won’t want to risk.

Under Jurgen Klopp, Can has enjoyed quite a positive resurgence in his Liverpool career.  He has quickly become one of Klopp’s go-to names on the team sheet in the center of Liverpool’s midfield.

The 24-year old has tallied six goals and five assists from 37 appearances across all competitions this season – a season highlighted by performances like his gallant effort in Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Manchester City in the league and their 4-2 win over Hoffenheim in the second leg of the Champions League qualifier.

At times though, he’s a mixture of fire and ice for Liverpool. With the ups and downs in his performances, Juventus are still beckoning.

Contract situation still not solved, Juventus move seems likely

Can’s contract runs out with Liverpool after the end of the season. The fact that he’s still not agreed to any sort of extension with the club makes it seem all the more likely that his suspected move to Juventus will materialize this summer.

The Serie A giants have made it clear that they definitely want Can in the black and white next season. The club’s front office is growing restless with how long it’s been taking for negotiations to initiate.

With the pressure from Juve’s front office, Can and his representatives will likely be pressed to make a decision on his future between now and the end of Liverpool’s season, even though he likely won’t play again until the World Cup.

He’s been quoted earlier as saying he “wants to play for a big club next season.” It’s anyone’s guess as to what exactly he was implying when he said that; it certainly makes it seem as if it’s not going to be.

In Liverpool’s packed midfield, it would also make sense that Can perhaps is threatened to potentially lose out on minutes by the arrival of RB Leipzig’s, Naby Keita this summer. The Guinea international was one of Klopp’s most sought-after transfer targets over the past year and a half, and will more than likely be a sure-fire starter.
