Recently the Egyptian forward has been making a name for himself, and after yet another breathtaking performance on Wednesday, he keeps proving himself in a Reds shirt.

If you look at Mo Salah’s past you might see a disconnection between his form now and his form before. You can see how he’s changed. I’m going to break down the Salah transformation from his days in Chelsea, to Fiorentina, then Roma, and finally the present player we know today at Anfield.

Express says that his relationship with Portuguese boss, Jose Mourinho was the reason that Salah was not clicking with the rest of the midfield. I fully support a firm manager-to-player relationship, however, I don’t think this was the only case.

Mourinho has a specific playing style, he knows what he wants and he knows what he needs. I believe that Salah just couldn’t find his footing because of the atmosphere. Some players just don’t fit into the team, no matter how much training.

Each player has their own wavelength, and Salah couldn’t connect. To go into further depth, his relationships with the players may have been safe but, there were no smooth transitions happening in midfield.

After his time at Stamford Bridge, he was loaned out to Fiorentina where they were in need of some threat on the wing. I believe the imbalance in the team set him apart and instead of being the catalyst he was supposed to be, he just ended up blending himself. His time was short at Fiorentina in 2015 as he moved to Roma in the same year.

Roma is where Salah got his spark. He more than doubled his goal tally from last season. Roma was more of the fast-paced, balanced team he was looking for. With a stable and experienced mid-field, Salah easily found himself a place in the squad. This led to the purchase of Salah from Chelsea.

He was then snatched up by Jurgen Klopp and took off. Instantly you can see the confidence on the ball. You can also see he was playing a style of football that he really enjoys. His low-centre of gravity makes him such a threat when it comes to dribbling and passes.

His ability to exploit even the tiniest of pockets to score is one of the best in the world. He has been one of Liverpool’s main reasons for success this campaign. It will be exciting to see what else he can bring, especially in the next Champions League fixture against Manchester City.
