FA Cup: A straight flush of Premier League teams in replays – except Bournemouth
The teams who made it a bit harder for themselves come out on top of their clashes in the 3rd round replay. All excepting one team, who were fighting all odds against a strong FA Cup contender.
Tuesday night’s football saw only two of the five Premier League teams take to the field. It was a great night for the clubs in the top flight. However, on Wednesday night when the other three played out their fixtures things went differently.
West Ham and Leicester City, secure their spots in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The former, making it through by the skin of their teeth and the latter, eased past their opponents – thanks to a brace from, Kelechi Iheanacho.

Both, Moyes and Puel has elevated their squads to a level of consistency, and consistency in some solid performances. Not able to brag huge squads for both these Premier League clubs – makes this an even tougher ask.
An unlikely scorer in the West Ham game and a player who’s lost his mojo leading into his Leicester start, settled the fate for the home teams, respectfully. Many positives to take from these 3rd round replays for both managers. On their defensive ends – both clean sheets and assured performances from the backline with few scares.

Wednesday night’s action:
Chelsea found it the hardest in their match taking it beyond the 90 minute mark and were only convincing in their penalty shootout. Caballero, decisively made a difference in the shootout.
The Stamford bridge side were a radar short of finishing the game off before full time – as early as the ninth minute of the game – the Blues could have been ahead and started a chain-reaction of goals. However, it was not to be.
Other replay results:

Mansfield | 1-4 | Cardiff City |

Reading | 3-0 | Stevenage |
Swansea started their fixture with ease, with Jordan Ayew’s messi-like goal, to lead the way to victory. But, like Tuesday night’s fixtures – last night’s was no push over as the visitors brought their best game.
The one Premier League victim was, Bournemouth. Out the lot – they faced a healthy FA Cup opponent in Wigan. It was always going to be difficult for Howe’s men. The final score in their clash was 3-0 to Wigan, something not surprising.
Wigan has always made a habit of pushing through to the latter stages of the competition, making them a hard team to beat – especially at home.
Sad to see one of the Premier League clubs take leave. Yet, it’s always a great result for the lower division teams to go and steal a spot in the next round.
