Liverpool is not in need of the Englishman any longer. Even if the Reds had an injury to one of the strikers, Daniel Sturridge would not be used. His time has run out at Anfield, and the frontman needs to move on.

Hard to think an injury-plagued player, will step in for a player who’s out injured. Daniel Sturridge is thinking sensibly when searching for football elsewhere. Who will meet an asking price of £30 million for a player who’s missed majority of his footballing career to injury problems? That is the question.

Gone but not forgotten – the time the striker just made his move to Anfield in a £12 million deal from rivals, Chelsea. Liverpool and the fans were treated to a healthy Sturridge – who led a Liverpool line beside partner, Luis Suarez.

The two were in sync, probably earning them the title of best strikers of the league at the time. They mounted a serious title-challenge under manager, Brendan Rodgers.

Since then, Sturridge has struggled to stay fit and either, start a season and not end it. Or, end a season but fail to be available at the start of it. Sometimes he would not start the season and end it altogether.

His fight for fitness saw him fly out to different parts of the world and seek professional help. However, this help was no use to the Reds and the frontman. He continued to stay absent for long periods of the Reds’ campaigns.

There was a time when he was the only player Liverpool could rely on him for goals – but once the managerial change happened from Rodgers to Klopp, the striker became obsolete.

Being left out of the side while staying fit, proved Liverpool had moved on and forward, from being depended on the Englishman.

Now comes an important time for any soccer player with World Cup aspirations. If you want to make that team, make sure you stay fit, play in a team performing pretty well, and most importantly, make sure you playing regularly.

Daniel only ticks one of those boxes at the moment and unfortunately, his nowhere close to replacing Firmino – with the form the Brazilian’s in.

Possible destination for Daniel Sturridge:

Only one club has shown continued interest in the striker – many knows about Daniel’s misfortune with injuries. Liverpool has also put a hectic £30 million price tag on his head, probably fending off possibly suitors with such an asking price.

The team who was rumoured first to want the player was, Southampton. After their record-breaking deal, where they saw their price possession march over to Anfield. News of the Saints wanting Sturridge came to surface.

Since being so strongly linked with an exit – nothing has come from the St Marys team. Midway through the window and his options are looking more and more limited.

They need a new man up front to help get goals that’s been drying out at St Marys. He needs them, because he’s out of favour and needs a fresh start. They looking to loan, Liverpool’s eyeing a permanent marker.

Let us wait and see what happens before the end of January.
