It appears the writings on the wall with this on going transfer drama involving one Klopp’s leading men, Philippe Coutinho. Liverpool gives the impression they’ve grown old of their cast away but agree, his Reds’ fate is in Klopp’s hands.
A short-lived celebration for the Merseyside outfit after their record-breaking signing, Virgil van Dijk – after news of their world-class player, Coutinho’s words hit the headlines of him playing his last ever game for Liverpool Football Club.
Both, Coutinho and the rest of the squad, has been in a rich vein of form, after going 13 games unbeaten since their last defeat against Spurs, last year. You would think it was enough to convince the young Brazilian playmaker to stay as long as the summer window – where both, Liverpool and Barcelona will have their main targets secured, but his not about that life and wants his dream move as early as possible.

In the same breath – it seems the Camp Nou side has no intentions of waiting for another six months before making him their highest transfer in history. They want their man NOW, and now only! Reports from Spain, Barcelona players, Brazil national teammates, and Barcelona supporters, have all had a hand in making sure Liverpool and their supporters know, his going to leave sooner rather than later.
It’s only the 3rd of January and already this transfer has heated to the boiling point of him faking an injury ahead of a match. He has also spoken publicly about his desire to leave the Reds, and has been missing from training since the transfer window opened.
Klopp has the last say:
Earlier today it was said, the hierarchy of the club, FSG, has put the final decision in Klopp’s hands as they’ve grown tired of this whole debacle and are ready to part ways – if the manager wants it to happen.
Klopp was ready to sell last summer when the player first refused to play amid an ongoing Barca link. The club’s owners held firm with thoughts of how late it was to replace a key figure in their starting eleven and opted to keep the attacker. Everybody excluding Klopp was in agreement to keep the want away.
Now with the team running smoothly and adding a needed defender to the ranks – the shoe is on the other foot. Klopp, never a manager to keep a player on board who wants out, but also a manager that likes to keep things in order. T’s crossed and I’s dotted. With this spanner in the works, a T or I is left unattended.
Who knows, the next couple of days we could see the departure of a brilliant playmaker to La Liga. Or, we could see a player sulk the next half of the season, all the way to the World Cup.
A €150 million is a hard offer to resist – something the Spanish giants must cough up for their number one target for the past two transfer windows.
