Liverpool close to signing Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk?
Since day one Liverpool has been linked with Virgil van Dijk and since then, Southampton has been very impossible to deal with.
It is no secret and has been set in stone quiet a while ago, van Dijk’s preferred destination was and is Liverpool. This caused a lot of heat between Liverpool and Southampton during the transfer window.
The saints were always unwilling to sell the defender to Liverpool. They’ve been waiting for offers from other clubs in order to see this happen.
However, the player’s mind was made up and was unwilling to look further. It went from the player agreeing to join in the early part of the window, to the player’s parent club wanting Liverpool in questioning. Questioning for tapping up the defender before being allowed to enter talks with him.
Then Liverpool sent out an apology to make sure they are not banned from making other potential signings and were afraid of losing out on the player altogether.
The player then was excluded from all club activities. This included, trainings and the team’s photo shoot.
While all this transpired, the Dutchman handed in a transfer request in hope a deal can be struck sooner rather than later. This sadly backfired as the player and club still search for an agreement.

Last week reports came in that Virgil van Dijk got rid of his agent, who was apparently trying to push through a move to Chelsea. Which he made clear, he didn’t want!
After releasing his agent from his duties, news has picked up that the player will now and looks more likely to join, Liverpool.
Social media has lit up in the Liverpool world since signing other long-term target, Naby Keita. Now more joy could follow for LFC supporters with news, van Dijk is certain to join Klopp’s red army.
Reports says Liverpool and the Saints have agreed a deal and others suggest a move is likely to happen in the incoming days.
This will have to happen now if it is to happen. The deadline day is almost upon us and finding a team for a player who wants out, needs to take place.
