Just when you thought Spurs are not adding anybody new to their squad. They pop up and are said to have agreed a record deal for Ajax defender, Davinson Sánchez.

Spurs beat Newcastle 0-2 Sunday past, in their opening fixture. One would think the defence was sorted after not conceding a goal.

On the other hand, them adding another defender makes sense for Pochettino. Taking into consideration the depth and current problems the club’s having with, I’m not signing a new contract Toby Alderweireld.

This players refusing to sign a new contract thing is getting a bit boring and regular. Many teams appear to have the same problems with key players.

Money, ambitions of the club, ambitions of the player differs from the club. There seems to be a 1001 reasons players are stalling on new contracts and contract extensions.

The Independent claim, Spurs have a deal placed in principle with Ajax and report the Dutch club wants the deal to concluded soon.

"“Spurs finally made a breakthrough on Thursday afternoon for a deal for the Colombian centre-back. They will pay £28m for Sanchez as well as a potential extra £14m in add-ons.“The only disagreement between Tottenham and Ajax remains the timing of the payments, with Ajax trying on Thursday to speed up the process faster than was initially planned”, writes Jack Pitt-Brooke."

Spurs have been quiet this transfer window and there was a worry, they were not going to add any players.

There has been more news about players wanting to leave, rather than players wanting to come to Spurs new stadium, Wembley. Kyle Walker was the first player to depart from the London club and could be followed by few more.

More from Premier League

Danny Rose, a player who recently degraded the club and their transfer tactics. Criticising them for not making big name signings. He could be next as he seeks to play around bigger names. Chelsea and Man United are the clubs being linked with Rose.

A player more likely to leave, Vincent Janssen. He has fallen out of favour and will seek a new club after a disappointing campaign.

Talking Tottenham’s new signing, the deal should go through for the Columbian defender after not renewing his contract.

Hopefully, Mauricio Pochettino can end the dealings with Ajax swiftly and the player doesn’t miss out on game time. At the moment, Spurs are not desperate judging by their previous clean sheet.
