Manchester United will keep goalkeeper David de Gea

Manager Jose Mourinho has announced that there is no chance the star goalkeeper will be leaving for Real Madrid this summer, despite the rumours that have been circulating.
David de Gea is one of Manchester United’s strongest players but has had his head turned by Real Madrid for a few years. Two years ago, his move was almost complete, until an administrative error stalled the deal.
However, despite the rumours once again arising that Real Madrid are keen on signing de Gea, Jose Mourinho has spoken out to quash such stories.
"I can guarantee that he’s not going this season. He was contacted for a long time, the club was closed. Then we open because I always have this feeling of when a player has a desire to go I don’t like to stop players to go because in the end you don’t get from them what you expect from them if they want to move and they don’t move.So we open it and then they decide to close, and I don’t think the feeling for him is very, very good. – Sky Sports"
Overall this is good news for Manchester United. Their goalkeeper is one of the best in the league.

De Gea finished third in last season’s Golden Glove list, an award for the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets. Only two clean sheets separated him and the winner of the award – Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois.
The end to the rumours also means that he can focus on pre-season. Such stories can be distracting for any player, which can affect their mind-set during training. Jose Mourinho and his teammates will be pleased to know they can rely on his presence once again.
Goalkeepers are often overlooked in a transfer window and cast aside in place of the more ‘glamourous’ outfield players. But losing David de Gea could have been detrimental for Manchester United. Their second goalkeeper, Sergio Romero, is good, but was only trusted as the Europa League starter.
To replace a player of de Gea’s calibre would be difficult and could have an effect on the entire defence. Of course, Romero could also rise to the occasion, but it would be risky when he is not as practised, and quite frankly, not as skilled.

Manchester United will be thrilled to keep such a key player for another season. They have had a successful transfer window so far and will not want any losses to hinder that.
