Tottenham are interested in signing £30 million Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich.
Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a move for Bayern Munich winger Dougals Costa, according to The Mirror. Costa has struggled for games since Carlo Ancelotti arrived at the club, and could potentially leave in the summer.
The Brazilian has clashed with the Bayern hierarchy recently over his current contract, with Bayern president Uli Hoeness dismissing Costa’s ”desperate attempts” to get a new deal. Costa then retorted by speaking about a potential move away from the club.
Any deal could cost between £25-£30 million for any potential buyer. On last season’s form, that would be money well spent. Costa was in amazing form under Pep Guardiola last year, but has since lost his way a little at the Allianz Arena.
Could a move to Tottenham be the answer? Spurs are having a phenomenal season in the Premier League this year, and could even still end up as champions. Chelsea still lead the way, but are now just four points clear of Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Tottenham have the momentum, too, over the current league leaders. But even if they do not win the title, Spurs will still have a Champions League campaign to manage next season alongside their usual commitments in England.
Improving the squad should be a summer focus for Pochettino, and the signing of Costa would inadvertently help in that respect. Costa would clearly slot straight into the first XI, it would only be a question of where.
Costa has the ability to play as a number 10 or out wide, so Pochettino would have options in finding a way to fit him into the team. With Harry Kane firmly cemented as the team’s striker, a three-man support team of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Costa would be formidable.
The trio would have everything a creative unit could ask for, with goals, assists, passing, vision, flare and speed. The addition of Costa would clearly improve the Tottenham attack. In the process, the squad would then get better with the likes of Erik Lamela and Son Heung-min dropping to the bench.

It’s squad depth that Tottenham really need next season, along with a more reliable backup striker. But a player like Douglas Costa is worth going the extra mile for. The biggest problem Spurs may have is the competition to sign the 26-year-old.
If Costa is to leave Bayern, then surely there will be a lengthy cue of teams wanting his signature. If Tottenham are the team that eventually wins that race, then it will be a key addition to an already strong Spurs team.
