Diego Costa is talking about leaving Chelsea again and has now left the door open to a move to France. When is enough, enough?

Chelsea might be looking for a new striker come the summer. In fact, they should probably be looking for one now anyway. The way Diego Costa has been talking lately, it sounds like the Brazilian has his eyes on the Stamford Bridge exit door.

Which is nothing new. Players look for ways out of clubs all the time. But Costa is now so openly talking about leaving Chelsea, that his attitude and comments are bordering on disrespectful to the club’s fans that support him so unconditionally.

Costa was linked to a return back to Atletico Madrid last summer, but ultimately stayed at the club. Then the Brazilian was rumored to be potentially moving to the Chinese Super League in January, and didn’t exactly rush to refute the claims.

Now the striker has been asked about a potential move to Ligue 1 in France, and glowed about the leading teams in the division, as reported by the Mirror. Costa even ended his answer with: ”If I need to make a change, France is a country where I have never played. So why not?”

But why would you need a move, though? And why would you say that publicly? Is Costa that keen on leaving? If so, the respectful thing to do is to conduct your business behind closed doors. It’s not difficult to just say you are happy where you are right now when in public.

The Brazilian even spoke on being linked with a return to Atletico Madrid last summer, and said he told Antonio Conte that he wanted to return to Spain, but Ateltico wouldn’t wait until the end of the window to try and force through a deal. So Costa was then forced to stay at that point.

When is enough, enough?

Costa would clearly like to leave the club. But to discuss that so openly is treating the Chelsea fans like fools at this point. The support they have given him through all the trials and tribulations over the years, demands more respect than just openly attaching yourself to other clubs.

Is Diego Costa worth the trouble? That’s the question often asked.  To Chelsea fans, the answer has always been yes. But now, even Costa himself is going too far. If the striker had no support at the club, and was an outsider, then openly stoking the fires of a move away would be more understandable.

But that’s not the situation Costa is in. Costa has the full support and respect of the club and its fans. Does he care? Does he return that respect? Stoking the fires of a move away when the team are on the verge of being crowned Premier league champions doesn’t suggest so.

At this point, Costa is being plain disrespectful to the Chelsea fans who so ardently support him.
