West Brom: John Terry would be perfect signing for Baggies
West Brom manager Tony Pulis has confirmed his interest in signing John Terry in the summer. Would the 36-year-old be a good signing for the Baggies?
John Terry is due to be a free agent in the summer with his contract coming to an end at Chelsea. West Brom could be one option for Terry if he leaves Stamford Bridge and wishes to continue playing in the Premier League.
Baggies manager Tony Pulis has confirmed that he was interested in signing Terry back in January, as reported by Sky Sports. Pulis has also confirmed that the veteran defender could be of interest again if he is a free agent in the summer.
Terry has a decision to make in regards to how he wants to end his career. If Chelsea go on to win the Premier League title, then going out on top as a champion must be appealing. Although, if Terry thinks he still has a few more years in his legs, then does a move abroad maybe appeal?
Terry will probably have an option or two in MLS or even the Chinese Super League. An alternate option would be to join a mid-table Premier League team, like West Brom. It all depends how Terry wants to go out.

If the center-back does decide to remain in the Premier League, then West Brom and Pulis will obviously be waiting. As will a few others, probably. A move to the Baggies, though, looks to be a perfect fit for the pair.
Pulis’ teams specialize in being defensively sound and organized. Signing Terry is only going to add to that – even at this stage of his career. What Terry lacks now is his mobility and legs – things he will need less of in a Pulis team. The knowledge and leadership is still there.
West Brom tend to sit deep and stay compact. Terry would have defensive cover all around him, which means he will rarely be exposed for pace. Terry can just sit in the middle and be the conductor and leader of the back line.
As an example, going to a team like Bournemouth would be a completely different proposition. That’s the definition of a bad fit for Terry. Their open, expansive style would see the 36-year-old isolated and exposed far too often.

If Terry decides to continue playing, he needs to join a defensive team. A team who defend deep as a unit and afford very little space to the opposition. That in a nutshell is West Brom’s game plan every week under Pulis.
Which is why a move to West Brom would be perfect for both John Terry and the club.
