Many fans of the North London club are once again calling into question whether or not Arsene Wenger is the right manager to lead them back to the glory days, or if it is indeed time for the perpetual top four finishers should look elsewhere.
A legacy of glory
Arsene Wenger has brought untold success to Arsenal since he took the job from George Graham in 1996. Of course many remember the season of ‘The invincible’s, and the three Premier League titles and six FA cup trophies he has won.
But as it looks like Arsenal will making it thirteen years without a league title, fans are vocalizing that despite the glory days of yesteryear
, all good things must come to an end.
Wenger himself confirmed that he has been offered a two-year contract extension already by the Arsenal board. Dashing the hopes of those supporters but delighting the many that believe that after all his hard work over the years, he will be the one to restore them to title challengers.
What Choice do they have?
So what if Arsenal and Arsene Wenger did agree to separate? What options would the Gunners have as a replacement?
The obvious choice is Diego Simeone. The Athletico Madrid manager is continuously accomplishing great things in Spain, and upsetting the power houses of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The Argentine is a three-time winner of the La Liga Manager of the Year award, also winning the league title on one occasion as well as the coveted Copa Del Rey.
The timing may be right for the former player as it appears he really has taken Athletico as far as they can go in a league dominated by two super powers.

Given the hard work and restraint that Arsene Wenger has shown over the years, there is a strong possibility that the board simply will not move on until the Frenchman himself decides it is time.
He has been an invaluable proponent in moving Arsenal into the twenty-first century. When other managers were spending like madmen Wenger focused the club growing the brand of Arsenal.
The move from Highbury to the new Emirates stadium was vital to the club and financial responsibility was key to the completion of the project.
He handled the entire affair with the respect of an owner and may be reaping the rewards for doing so.
