Manchester City travel to Goodison Park to play Everton in week 21 of the Premier League.

It’s not all been smooth sailing for Manchester City or Everton this season. Pep Guardiola and Ronald Koeman have both had some rocky times in their debut season at their new clubs.

Koeman’s Everton remain about where they were expected to be in the campaign. But Guardiola’s team are lower than many anticipated. City are still in the title race but sit in fifth place as they get set to take on the Toffees.

Guardiola insists he is still learning about the Premier League and it has shown. The Spaniard has often tinkered with his team this season and has watched on in horror as his defense has shipped far too many easy goals.

A 5-0 win over West Ham United last weekend looked to be a step in the right direction. But was that result more down to the brilliance of City or the fragility of West Ham right now? City will take confidence from the game regardless.

Arriving at Goodison Park, Guardiola will be without a couple of key players, with Ilkay Gundogan set to miss the remainder of the season and Fernandinho still absent through suspension. It means Guardiola will have to juggle his pack once again as he did against the Hammers.

Koeman also has some players missing for the game. In particular, Yannick Bolasie is sidelined with a long-term injury. Although, the Toffees have been in decent form lately, with two wins and a draw from their last three games.

Everton’s last five games has produced just one defeat amongst three wins and a draw. However, Koeman’s men are still nine points behind sixth-placed Manchester United. But with United playing Liverpool on Sunday too, it’s an opportunity for Merseyside to make a dent in Manchester in the standings.

Both Everton and Manchester City have their plus points, but also have their vulnerabilities. Koeman and Guardiola will likely feel like they can exploit the other’s weaknesses when the pair meet. Both have a top striker up front to do the damage also.

Romelu Lukaku will lead the line for the home team. Whilst Sergio Aguero will lead the City attack. Which hitman will win the shootout between the two strikers? Whoever does could have a direct impact on the result of the game.
