Tony Pulis is rumored to be considering his future with West Brom in what would be the biggest blow the team could suffer right now.

The most important man in West Brom‘s bid for Premier League survival this year is Tony Pulis. Which player is going to save the Baggies from relegation? Who’s the standout saviour? It’s Tony Pulis. Which is kind of the problem, it seems.

Pulis is considering his position at the club after being left unimpressed with his club’s business in the transfer market, according to the Daily Express. The Saido Berahino saga once again failed to be resolved and Pulis never got the players he wanted through the door.

The West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace has been extremely stubborn on Berahino ever since the striker was linked with a move in January 2015. Tottenham failed to get a deal done back then. Now it’s, primarily, Stoke City who couldn’t get Berahino out of The Hawthorns.

At this point, West Brom are not waiting out for the best fee for the striker, they’ve already missed it. Berahino is a free agent after this season, so his value only drops from now on. The failure to move Berahino this summer seemingly impacted on the club’s incoming signings and now Pulis isn’t happy with what he’s left with.

More from The Top Flight

The Baggies were linked with midfielder Ignacio Camacho from Malaga and William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon on the final day of the transfer window. Either would have been a club-record deal. Both failed to materialize.

Nacer Chadli was the club’s biggest signing of the summer overall and the Belgian should prove a good acquisition. Chadli comes in from Tottenham and gives the team the winger they needed. But  is that really enough? And will Pulis even be there to see if he is a success?

Tony Pulis is a specialist in keeping teams in the Premier League. Whether it’s Crystal Palace, Stoke or now West Brom. If Pulis does leave, the club are doomed this season. Berahino won’t be motivated to keep the club up – he’ll be leaving come January or the summer.

Salomon Rondon will be the team’s only hope in attack, the striker scored nine goals in 34 Premier League appearances last season. Hal Robson-Kanu joined the club at the deadline, but despite a fantastic showing at Euro 2016, Robson-Kanu has never been seen as a top flight player.

The Welshman played in the Championship last season for Reading. He made 29 appearances and scored one goal. In the Championship. Yeah, not sure that’s going to get the job done. The Baggies rely on their defense more than anything and that might be needed again looking at those stats.

However, that defense is a Tony Pulis trademark. If Pulis goes and that trademark rugged, organized, hard-nosed defense goes with him, then West Brom will be Championship bound.
