German international Julian Draxler eyes a move away from Wolfsburg in a bid to join London giants Arsenal. But do the Gunners reciprocate the desire?

Speaking to Bild in Germany, he told the reporters that he is looking to join Arsenal after being due back to training today.

Arsenal has been on the lookout for a right-winger for the past three seasons after failing to establish a top class talent in the position, despite Arsène Wenger’s attempts with Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Campbell.

Draxler isn’t the only player on Arsenal’s radar, the Gunners are looking to sign PFA ‘player of the year’ Riyad Mahrez with reports stating that they’re preparing a £43m bid for Leicester’s star Algerian.

More from The Top Flight

Mahrez is yet to sign a new contract with the Premier League champions, fueling rumours about an exit to Arsenal, with Ranieri admitting that Mahrez is distracted by all of the speculation.

Julian Draxler seems to be set on leaving German club Wolfsburg who had a poor season in 2015/16 after losing talisman Kevin De Bruyne. The club ended up finishing 8th in the Bundesliga.

Should the German move to London to join Arsenal, it would complete a very strong wing and midfield. He would be fighting for a place in the team alongside Özil, Sanchez, Walcott, Wilshere, Cazorla, Ramsey and Oxlade-Chamberlain. The list goes on.

However, the usual frugal Wenger will not see his right-wing and midfield as a priority, despite his apparent interest in Mahrez. What Arsenal really needs is a striker and a new defender after Per Mertesacker was confirmed to be out for ‘a few months’.

Arsenal fans will also hope that Wenger is on the hunt for a striker. Despite Giroud scoring 16 goals in last season’s Premier League campaign many fans believe that he’s not up to scratch.

This opinion is reinforced by the fact that Giroud failed to score in 15 consecutive games for the Gunners, ending the streak at the Etihad against Manchester City in Arsenal’s 2 – 2 draw.

Giroud wasn’t the only personal at Arsenal with a disappointing season. The club as a whole failed to produce despite finishing second on the final day of the season following Tottenham’s collapse.

As such, fans are split between whether it is time for Arsène Wenger to resign. Whether they are right or not is irrelevant, the fact is that they missed the window of top managers being available.

Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Antonio Conte have all found themselves new clubs.

Should the board at Arsenal decide that Wenger’s time is up, they’ll have to take a risk with a less accomplished manager or have to completely change their system in order to bring in a manager like Diego Simeone.

The 66 year old Wenger will start next season with just one year left on his contract with Arsenal. However he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Already this window he has signed Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka for £32m and after failing to sign Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, looks to be set on Lyon’s Lacazette after having a bid rejected.

Next: Arsenal are still a top striker away from Premier League title

Should Alexandre Lacazette complete his move and Arsenal sign another centre back, Arsenal fans will have plenty to look forward to next season.
