The 25-year old was named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for the month of August, a great accomplishment for a player who had never played in the Premier League prior to joining Swansea City.

His three goals were very important in giving the Swans a strong start to the Premier League season. Swansea City followed their opening match draw at Chelsea with back-to-back wins against Newcastle and Manchester United.

However, while Andre Ayew won the player of the month award, he was not the only Swansea City striker in contention for the award. Finishing second in the voting was team-mate Bafetimbi Gomis, while third place was Manchester City midfielder David Silva.

With offers around Europe and Asia, Andre Ayew left French side Marseille at the end of the 2014 campaign. Turning down more money, the Ghanaian National Team member chose to join Swansea City in an effort to test himself in the best league in the world.

The Gary Monk managed side currently sits in fourth place in the Premier League table, and could be set for a potential run at the Premier League’s European qualifying places this season. When asked about the award, Andre Ayew praised his team-mates for giving him the opportunity to be named player of the month.

"“It’s a great feeling, but this award comes from hard work and support by the whole squad. It’s more of a collective award rather than an individual award because we’ve worked very hard from pre-season until now. It shows there is a lot of quality and determination in this team. The most important thing for me is the unity and team spirit we have shown. The guys have really helped me by telling me how the league works and by giving me confidence to do what I can do. I can work even harder and do more. If we continue in the same way a lot of our players can pick up awards, but what is important is that Swansea continue to win games.”"

Swansea City supporters will definitely be hoping that Andre Ayew can continue in his opening form. Doing so will likely bring the Swans ever closer to qualifying for next seasons Europa League competition.
