Southampton FC manager Ronald Koeman insisted in a recent interview that there is no chance he will leave the club this season to take over as manager of the Netherlands National Team. Recent defeats to the newly qualified nations of Iceland and Turkey have left the Netherlands languish in fourth place in their qualifying group. While the top two teams in each group qualify directly to the finals in France this upcoming summer, all of the third place teams head to a qualifying playoff against one another.

An exception to the above will be the best finishing third place team which will automatically qualify to the tournament. With two matches remaining in qualifying, the Netherlands are two points back of third placed Czech Republic.

The recent poor form of the Netherlands National Team has seen the Southampton FC manager be linked with a move to coach his home nation. However, Ronald Koeman relieved in a recent interview that he remains committed to the Saints despite the rumors linking him with a move.

"“It is not the best moment for the Dutch national team, we know that and of course there are always those kinds of rumors. Everybody knows it is part of my ambition, but in the future. Not for now. Not for next year. Maybe in the future but not at this time.”"

The Southampton FC manager was also asked whether he would listen to an offer should he be approached by the Dutch FA. His answer was simple and straight to the point.

"“No, no. I continue to the last year of my contract.”"

Ronald Koeman’s contract with Southampton runs until the end of next season. During his time with the South Coast club, Ronald Koeman has been the subject of many managerial rumors which include speculation of the Dutchman possibly joining Manchester City and Barcelona.

If the Dutchman were to take over as manager of his home National Team he would become the third man to manage the National Team in the last five months. However, with his recent comments, it remains highly unlikely that he will leave his post at St. Mary’s.

While rumors continue to swirl around the future of current Netherlands manager Danny Blind, the Dutch FA recently released a statement stating that they still have faith in Blind as manager and are not considering any changes to the current National Team setup.
