After all, with such a financial difference between the Premier League upper echelon — Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham — and those fighting to finish in the top half of the Premier League’s table can Swansea City really manage a top seven fight?
A top seven finish could be possible for the Swans this season. Finishing eighth in the Premier League last season, Swansea City look like they could be this season’s version of Southampton FC. Whether they have the depth that Southampton did not posses last season to make a full season run is unknown.
Even if the club manage to make a run at the Premier League’s top seven, finishing outside of fifth does not guarantee Swansea City qualification to next season’s Europa League. However, that does give the Swans two other outlets to attempt qualification.
Much like they did back in the 2012/2013 season, Swansea City can win the Capital One Cup in order to secure qualification to the Europa League. The other possibility would be to win the FA Cup at the end of the campaign.
Swansea City have already proven in their past that they can win the Capital One Cup. With this season’s squad of much higher quality than that of the club’s past teams, the Swans could easily compete to win either the Capital One of FA Cup’s.
Failing to win these competition’s will not be the end of the world for Swansea City. Should a club in the Premier League’s top four win either the competition, the result will add the Europa League spots to the Premier League final table — allowing sixth and/or seventh to qualify.

Under the leadership of Garry Monk, Swansea City have one of the best squads outside of the Premier League’s big clubs. Finishing in the top seven or winning one of England’s domestic cups should be on the cards for the Swans this season.
Taking advantage of the quality of Andre Ayew, Jonjo Shelvey, Jefferson Montero and Bafétimbi Gomis, Swansea City have a real chance of being this season’s Southampton. Upsetting the odds and defeating the Premier League’s big-boys could be the Swans destiny this season.
Using their new found quality and skill, Swansea City is a real threat to the monopoly currently occupying the Premier League’s top six. More so, continual improvement from the Swans over the next few seasons could soon put the Welsh club in for a chance at the top four.
Can Swansea City qualify for the Europa League this season? Yes they can and they soon could find themselves fighting for much, much more.
