West Ham United are not yet done with there transfer activity this summer. Current Queen’s Park Rangers boss Chris Ramsey confirmed West Ham’s advances towards their former goalkeeper in an interview with West London Sport.

The former England National Team starter played for the Hammers from 2006 through the end of the 2012 season. Now a member of the newly relegated QPR, Rob Green is a main target for new West Ham boss Slaven Bilic.

When asked about Rob Green’s future at Loftus Road, QPR manager Chris Ramsey stated that while the club had received an offer he hoped the Englishman would choose to remain with the club.

"“They do want him, but no deal has been cut. Nothing firm has been agreed,” Ramsey said. As far as we’re concerned he’s going to be at the club – and he’s performing really well.” — West London Sport"

However, Chris Ramsey would also later state that nothing is set in stone with the transfer window still open.

"“As long as the transfer window’s open everything [transfer negotiations] is ongoing. But I hope he doesn’t go and as far as I know he’s staying at QPR.”"

Making 219 appearances during his first stint with the Hammers, Rob Green would provide a major boost to the West Ham United defense. Current first-choice goalkeeper’s Adrian recently received a suspension for reckless play while second choice man Darren Randolph recently joined the club from Birmingham City.

If Rob Green were to leave QPR for a return to West Ham United, he would almost certainly be in competition for a first team role. However, with three top goalkeepers in the club, somebody would inevitably be left out and extremely unhappy.

Of the three goalkeepers, Rob Green is easily the oldest at 35-years of age. While he would bring his experience and overall quality to the Hammers, the backlash from the club’s other goalkeepers could have a far greater effect.

Having two goalkeepers both under the age of 30 put West Ham and manager Slaven Bilic in an extremely good position for the present and the future. Jeopardizing that to sign a former player now 35-years old could bring major backlash to the club.

However, with that being said, the chance to bring Rob Green back to the Hammers is a good one. Even at 35-years of age, goalkeepers have been known to play well and maintain their quality well into their late 30’s and early 40’s for some.

Being given a possible chance to return to his longtime club, Rob Green will likely jump at the opportunity to return to West Ham United and the Premier League. Whether Hammer’s boss Slaven Bilic wants that to happen or not is still up for debate.
