Manchester United vs Newcastle United. A battle between two of England’s most historic clubs is set to occur this Saturday. Manchester United look to keep their winning start going as they host Newcastle United, a club who is still seeking their first win of the campaign.

The Red Devils enter the match with two wins but also a lot of questions on their plate. One such question revolves around the current Manchester United attack and whether it and captain Wayne Rooney can be effective this season.

Even with the signing of Memphis Depay this past summer, Manchester United have only scored two goals this season. Included in that total is the own goal from Tottenham defender Kyle Walker. Thus far, the only goal scored by a Manchester United player is from Adnan Januzaj against Aston Villa.

Newcastle United come into Old Trafford without having secured a win this season. The opening day draw against Southampton was fallowed up by a 2-0 defeat at Swansea City this past weekend. Though this is only Steve McClaren’s third competitive match in charge of the Magpies, a result here could be crucial towards their season.

While Newcastle United look good at times against Southampton FC, their performance against Swansea City left a lot to be desired. A similar performance this weekend at Old Trafford will likely see the side once again fail to win their first match.

Players to Watch

Manchester United come into this match needing to prove their attack’s Premier League worthiness. Playing a main role in that equation will be new signing Memphis Depay. The winger recently scored two goals in the side’s Champions League qualifier against Club Brugge.

If Memphis can continue to perform at such a high attacking level this weekend, the club will not only take three points against Newcastle but also prove to the world the strength of their attack. In doing so, Manchester United could become a side of old and begin their march to the top of the Premier League.

The other end of the pitch will see Newcastle United, a club in desperate need of a win. A player that is capable of leading the Magpies to that very win is summer signing and Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrović.

Part of Steve McClaren’s summer overhaul at St. James Park, Aleksandar Mitrović will likely play a main role in Newcastle United’s success this season. Whether in the starting XI or coming off the bench, Aleksandar Mitrović will be key to the Magpies result against Manchester United.

Both sides come into this match needing to prove their worth. A win for Newcastle United will show their true quality and potential for a top ten finish while Manchester United need a result and goals to prove to the rest of the Premier League the strength and quality of their attack.

No matter the result, this match could be the Premier League’s match of the week, something every fan would love to see from these two clubs.
