Tottenham Hotspur have been in need of a quality forward that can be matched up front with Harry Kane. The club now appear to have finally got their man with the expected signing of Lyon winger Clinton Njie.

The young Cameroonian will be expected to make an impact upon his arrival at White Hart Lane. The 21-year old is renowned for his pace and play making ability with manager Mauricio Pochettino expecting Njie to take pressure off of star striker Harry Kane.

Though the move has not been officially announced yet, the Telegraph is reporting that Tottenham have reached an agreement with Lyon for a fee around £12 million. The move has also been prematurely confirmed by Clinton Njie through his Instagram account.

With the move so close to being made official, Spurs have already began work to unload surplus forwards Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado before the end of the summer transfer window. Both were left off the matchday squad against Manchester United.

While Emmanuel Adebayor has already stated his desire to move to West Ham United this summer, Roberto Saldado looks set to be the first of the two to leave White Hart Lane. Saldado has already flown to Spain for a medical at La Liga side Villarreal.

If both players do leave Tottenham this summer, it could put Spurs in a bind when the injury and fitness bug begins to bite. With only Harry Kane and Clinton Njie capable of leading the attack, manager Mauricio Pochettino could be placing himself in a bind early on.

The smart move from where I sit would be to retain Emmanuel Adebayor for at least the first half of the season. Having three players capable of playing in the attack will be hugely important to the club’s Premier League and Europa League chances this season.

Should the injury bug bite early on this season, Spurs could have set themselves up for failure in the attack. Without that aspect of the team, Tottenham could easily fall out of the Premier League’s top seven this season.

In his 30 appearances for Lyon last season, Clinton Njie found the back-of-the-net seven times. His added play making ability will instantly make him a favorite among the spurs supporters.

Similar performances to the one’s he had during his time with Lyon will see the Tottenham attack not only improve, but also see the club be given a chance to maybe finish in the Premier League’s top four and qualify once again for the Champions League.
