We all know that Manchester United made a lot of purchases since the start of the summer. The signings of Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, and Bastian Schweinsteiger have created a hype among Premier League fans. Manchester United might seem like it’s building up a super squad, but in truth, these signings aren’t nearly enough.

More from Champions League

Yes, Manchester United’s signings are impressive; however, most of them are untested in the Premier League. Memphis Depay, 21, played in the Dutch league with PSV Eindhoven. He is an exciting prospect for the English league after scoring 22 goals and five assists last season with PSV. However, Manchester United would probably need to give him more time to adjust to the league.

The same goes with former Bayern Munich star, Bastian Schweinsteiger. The German midfielder can use his experience in the Champions League, but it is too early to tell whether he will be a hit in England or not.

Manchester United’s Problem:

The team is releasing many veteran players. Robin van Persie signed for Fenerbahce earlier this summer. His form deteriorated in the last season, therefore, the decision to release the player is justified.

Neither Tom Cleverley nor Darren Fletcher has impressed the Red Devils fans in the post-Ferguson years. The latter signed with West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer earlier this year. Tom Cleverley, on the other hand, left his boyhood club for Everton.

PSG has signed Argentinian forward Angel Di Maria from Old Trafford in a £44.3 million deal. Some would criticize the player’s one-year stint in the Premier League, which ended with the player scoring three goals and making 10 assists.

Who’s Left?

Wayne Rooney remains as captain of the squad. The current England captain will be looking to cement his place as a striker in the coming season, following the exit of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie. The 29-year-old skipper will probably be the Manchester United star once more.

David De Gea’s transfer saga with Real Madrid remains up in the air. Although the rumors have started to die down, the Los Blancos will find a way to unsettle the Spanish starlet. Did Manchester United sign Sergio Romero in case David De Gea decides to leave?

Juan Mata is impressive at times. However, his inconsistency remains a liability if Manchester United wants to aim for the title. The diminutive attacking midfielder is currently not at par with the likes of Eden Hazard or Alexis Sanchez despite scoring nine goals and four assists last season.

Manchester United’s Solution:

If Manchester United want instant success, they would have to dig deep and draw the big guns. That’s right, I’m talking about Gareth Bale.

More from The Top Flight

The Welsh international was phenomenal at Tottenham Hotspur. Any team that can manage to sign the Real Madrid winger would automatically be strong favorites to win the title. Gareth Bale brings pace, power, and set-piece specialty with him. A player of his caliber would definitely boost Manchester United’s title hopes.

The Old Trafford giants would want to find a replacement for Van Persie. Word on the street says that Gonzalo Higuain is available on the market after refusing a contract extension with Napoli. Arsenal are monitoring his progression, but it is not too late for Manchester United to jump in with a bid.

So what do you think? Who should Manchester United sign next?
