With Manchester United in desperate need of another striker before the start of the Premier League, the Red Devils have reportedly lodged a huge bid for Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller.

The German National Team member is one of the best forwards in the world, which is why Manchester United have bid a startling £70 million for the player. While the lure of Manchester United is great for some, I have a hard time believing Bayern Munich will sell their star.

While the German has never been a world leader when it comes to goals scored, the 25-year old has extreme quality and pace when leading the attack. The player is also one that expects to play 90 minutes per match, something Manchester United need in the attack.

Though Bayern Munich will be reluctant to sell their former youth player, it is believed that the player will want to move away from Allianz Arena. In the past two seasons under Pep Guardiola, Thomas Muller has only played for a full 90 minutes twice.

Needing a change of scenery, Thomas Muller will likely jump at the chance to join one of the world’s most prestigious clubs. Whether the club allows their star to leave is another question all together.

The German giants are not in need of cash. With the club wanting to fight for Champions League glory this season, the club will want to retain all the star power it possibly can. That could mean the club forcing Thomas Muller to remain with the club until at least next summer.

Should the proposed bid be accepted by Bayern Munich, Thomas Muller would become the most expensive player in Euros. The transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid coast €94 million which was €3 million more than Gareth Bale’s move from Tottenham to Real Madrid.

The amount in euro’s that Manchester United would pay for Thomas Muller is thought to be €100 million. Though his goal scoring numbers would not equal what Manchester United will be paying for the player, the German’s other qualities more than make up for his possible deficiencies.

In his career at Bayern Munich, Thomas Muller has played in 197 matches, finding the back of the net 71 times. Prior to his debut for the senior side, Thomas Muller played in the side’s Bayern II team, appearing in 35 matches over two season.

Thomas Muller has also been a top performer for the German National Team over the years. Since his debut in 2010, Thomas Muller has appeared in 63 matches for Germany, scoring 27 times.

If the German can continue his performance levels at Manchester United, the Red Devils could have found their next top striker, capable of leading the side’s attack for the foreseeable future.
