Tottenham Preparing Transfer For Paris St. Germain’s Thiago Motta Following Exit Comments
Tottenham Hotspur have been placed on alert as Italian midfielder Thiago Motta has begun talking of a possible exit from current club Paris St. Germain. The former Barcelona and Inter Milan man joined PSG back in January of 2012 and has since made 85 appearances for the French giants.
The soon to be 33-year old midfielder is now likely to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer following comments made to an Italian news source. His comments have also led many to believe in a return to former club Inter Milan.

"“I get the impression that a cycle is coming to an end for me, I have given and received so much. It would be more comfortable to stay, but I wouldn’t be honest with myself, nor the club, which I have grown to love. It’s not a question of money, but of motivation.”"
Also adding to the pressure on the club will be Thiago Motta’s contract. The Italian’s deal at Parc des Princes comes to an end next summer, making a transfer deal even more important at the present. Motta’s comments tell the club that the Italian will not be signing a contract extension anytime soon.
The players advanced age coupled with the clubs current wage bill should make a transfer fee relatively low for a player of his skill. With Tottenham in need of experienced quality midfielders, Thiago Motta could be just the man for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
So far in the summer, Tottenham have sold midfielders Paulinho and Etienne Capoue and will likely be down a third once Benjamin Stambouli makes a decision on his future. With Spurs setting up for a European and Domestic run this year, Mauricio Pochettino will need depth and experience at his disposal.

However, the North London club will have to convince the Italian to join the Premier League. With his career likely beginning its slow decent, Thiago Motta has hinted at his preference towards an Italian return. Using cash or the prospect of playing in the Premier League, Tottenham will be in for an uphill battle.
Should Spurs manage to sign the Italian international, the midfielder should add a large boost to the side. Depending on the time it takes for a possible transfer, Thiago Motta could join Tottenham on their current United States Training Camp tour.
However, missing out on a target like Motta could mean disaster for Tottenham. With the losses in the midfield this summer, the club would likely have problems depth wise later in the Premier League season. The depth issue would almost certainly cost the side any chance in might have in Europe.
While the summer transfer window still has a long time to go, this transfer could determine Tottenham’s fate this season. A player with the experience and quality of Thiago Motta could elevate Tottenham into the top four fight next season, something that the club and it’s supporters would love to see.
