The Premier League’s Best Summer Signings… So Far

Adding to his Liverpool squad, Brendan Rodgers has once again targeted Southampton. This time, the Englishman has added Saint’s star right back Nathaniel Clyne, once again allowing for the neutral’s to refer to the Reds as Liverhampton.

Unlike last summer’s Southampton signings, the move for Nathaniel Clyne will almost certainly payoff this season.
Last summer, Liverpool signed three Southampton players with only Adam Lallana showing signs of paying off. Both Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert disappointed in their first seasons and may already have been ruled a bust at the club.
However, unlike last seasons “spur of the moment” signing by Brendan Rodgers, Nathaniel Clyne will have an important role to play from the get-go. The departure of Glen Johnson has opened a hole in the right side of Liverpool’s defense.
If Nathaniel Clyne can replicate his performance at Southampton, Liverpool will have a top quality right back leading the charge this season. With the addition of the England National Team member, Anfield will have a real reason to be excited for the upcoming season.
