Graziano Pelle — Forward — Bologna

The Italian joined Southampton FC last season from Dutch club Feyenoord. The player was one of Ronald Koeman’s first transfers as Southampton manager, given the fact that Koeman managed Pelle during his time at Feyenoord.
His 16 goals last season led the side as the forward played in every Premier League match last season. However, Pelle suffered a mid-season goal drought that affected the side’s performance in the final table. Though, Pelle played well in his role thanks to the injuries that plagued other Southampton forwards.
However, with the recent arrival of Juanmi at the club, Southampton now has four first team quality forwards. The side’s pursuit of Charlie Austin is also going to affect some of the players time with the first team.
Ranking the current crop of forwards, I would have to place Pelle in the second position behind Jay Rodriguez. Juanmi and Shane Long are also quality forwards making one of the four likely out of minutes this season.
