Southampton FC’s Summer Transfer Targets
Eder — Forward — SC Braga
While Ronald Koeman may be only a second year manager, he already has achieved something many experienced managers have failed to do. Make a Backup plan. In this case, the backup plan involves Portugal National Team member Eder.
Should Southampton FC fail to secure the the signature of QPR forward Charlie Austin, SC Braga forward Eder has been targeted as another forward that he could pair with Graziano Pelle, Shane Long or Jay Rodriguez.

Though the 27-year old has never played for a club in a major league, Eder comes from a deep Portuguese development system. Second only to the Dutch, Portugal has been a hotbed for young player development, leading many Premier League players to come from Primeira Liga.
At 6’3, Eder would also bring a physical presence to the Southampton attack. Lining Eder and Italian Graziano Pelle up front together would make one of the most feared set piece attacks in the league. The height alone would make many teams quiver when facing a corner.
With only one season remaining on his contract, Braga will likely look to sell the player in an attempt to make some money off of him. Scoring only four goals last season will also lower the side’s asking price.
While a risk given his low goal total last season, an asking price of only £1 million makes Eder a player who can fail. Should he succeed in the Premier League and help Southampton to success, this move could become the transfer of the summer.
