Similarly as Van Praag, ex Real Madrid and Barcelona player Luis Figo, withdrew his candidacy so that he doesn’t attract votes away from Prince Ali.

Figo hailed the resignation of Blatter as the start of a new era of dynamism, transparency and democracy. He is yet to announce his entry into the elections.

Figo has an immense respect from people from various backgrounds around the world and if he is a candidate, he will also have an outside chance of making it at the pinnacle of world football, only this time as an executive and not as a player.

There are some who think the FIFA President should be someone who has played the game so that he/she can understand the passion of the game and bring those emotions when working for the administration of the game. Luis Figo certainly fits the bill in such a case.
