Tottenham Transfer Rumors: Ezequiel Lavezzi, Chicharito to Spurs

Multiple reports have Tottenham making moves. Since these are all rumors it’s hard to say if any of them are true. One is official though, the signing of Kevin Wimmer.

A £4.3m fee with FC Köln is a Daniel Levy-like signing. Wimmer, 22, is a center-back that can pair with Jan Vertongen, Eric Dier and Ferderico Fazio giving Spurs a blend of young and experienced players.

With Academy products Kyle Walker-Peters and Cameron Carter-Vickers are waiting in the wings as well as full backs Danny Rose, Ben Davies, Kyle Walker and DeAndre Yedlin, Tottenham has one of the deepest defense’s in the Premier League.

Regarding one of the transfer rumors is a double down on Southampton players.

It’s no secret that Tottenham need help at midfield and getting a player of Morgan Schneiderlin’s caliber would turn an area of weakness into a strength. Despite his aspirations for Champions League football, he may realize them with Spurs.

A group of Christian Eriksen, Nabil Bentaleb, and Ryan Mason as the starters with highly rated players Alex Pritchard, Dele Alli and Tom Carroll on loan — a stacked position which could create problems for opposing defenses — makes a move to North London enticing.

Next up, Mauricio Pochettino has told Daniel Levy that Érik Lamela will stay.

A £30m move from Roma to Tottenham two years ago hasn’t worked out thus far but it’s to be expected as he just turned 23 years old. His 2014-15 season is officially his first full year, but his second overall, after suffering an injury. He’s improved from last season so 2015-16 will be his make or break year.

The middle of that same report also had Tottenham being content with both Danny Rose and Hugo Lloris leaving this summer should they receive their asking price; £15m for Rose and £30m for Lloris.

Lastly, rumor has it that both Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier “Chicharito” Hernández are on Tottenham’s radar. Signing one would be good — getting both is great. This will help take the burden off of Harry Kane; seeing Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado combine for six goals in all competitions is pitiful, so a change is needed.

More from The Top Flight

With Real Madrid moving on, Spurs are trying to sign Chicharito from Manchester United for a reported £7.5m. As for Ezequiel Lavezzi, a rift between him and manager Laurent Blanc has surfaced creating a chance to sign the PSG striker for a rumored fee of around £10m.

Chicharito, 26, has been used as a substitute and Lavezzi, 30, hasn’t recaptured his Napoli days so there will be risks involved. But even then, it’s still worth a shot since any move that could potentially improve the club’s striker issue would be a welcome following this year sans Harry Kane.

Remember these are just rumors. With the season wrapping up this weekend you can expect the rumor mill to pick up steam as the transfer window approaches.
