Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc is in a difficult situation.

The former World Cup winner will look to lead the capital outfit to Spain on Tuesday for their second leg clash against Barcelona in the Champions League and all the odds are against Les Parisians.

The 3-1 score line sits in favor of the Catalans as PSG go into the Camp Nou in a dire situation. Yet, the pressure does not just sit heavily on the squad, it also sits upon Lauren Blanc. It is simple to see that the pressure that Paris endure is nowhere close to what Blanc will have to endure if the club cannot emulate their best form.

In a deficit that is as heavy as the one PSG have against Barcelona, a performance of pure dignity is what seems most likely to unravel. But regardless of the fact that the club could play their very best football, with their arsenal reloaded with players they were void of in the first leg, Blanc’s presence at PSG next season could be in grave doubt.

It is interesting that this idea exists because the capital outfit has had an admirable resurgence in 2015 despite the constant obstacles that have prevailed against the team. The club has finally found themselves upon the Ligue 1 summit, in a secure position against Olympiqe de Marseille and Olympique de Lyonnais and can also boast having won the Coupe de la Ligue for the fifth time in their history. Along with this, PSG are enroute to securing their first Coupe de France if their form can continue into the final against Auxerre May 30th.

With this potential treble in mind and the continuous obstacles tucked into the past, why should Laurent Blanc’s job still be in jeopardy?

Since the dawn of the Qatari sports investment, the club’s hierarchy has been clear in their pursuit of Champions League glory. In order to come closer to this ideal situation, the club has splashed money across the continent on players with huge marketability benefits and performance benefits.

This is why the club’s continual growth within such a small period of time has been difficult to ignore. Blanc’s job at the club has been to do just that – create order among the egos in the dressing room, play attractive football, dominant domestic competition and most importantly, come closer and closer to Champions league glory.

Of course in a situation such as the one PSG are in, this particular dream is one that seems incredibly unlikely. The club will look to make a miracle happen against Barcelona and the person whose shoulders weight the heaviest is Blanc. It is certainly an unfair predicament for the Frenchman that perhaps his job could be the cost of losing out of a quarter –final victory.

It is no secret that Blanc was not the Qatari sports investments first choice when they were looking to replace Carlo Ancoletti in 2013, but he has certainly proved to that despite his underdog status, he deserves at least one more year at the club. When money is a factor, time is often overlooked and for Blanc, he still needs more to build not only a team worthy of contention, but also an entire brand that is PSG.

If the hierarchy of the club can understand this, despite the fact that PSG could suffer a great loss against Barcelona Tuesday, the clubs success can continue to grow in a healthy way.
