Time for Arsenal FC to Consider the Future of Arsene Wenger
Following an embarrassing 3-1 home defeat to AS Monaco, the time has come for Arsenal FC to realize that Arsene Wenger’s best days are behind him. If Arsenal are to compete for the Premier League title, the club may need to sack Wenger.
With many Arsenal supporters wanting to see Wenger fired as manager for the past few seasons, it may be time to make it happen. With the sides last Premier League title coming during the 2003-04 season, Arsenal have struggled to finish in the Premier League’s top two.

Pain in the Arsenal
The club has finished in the top four of the Premier League every year since Wenger arrived. However, Arsenal have yet to finish higher than third since the 2005-06 season.
Transfer decisions in the past few years have also fueled the fire against Wenger. This past Summer’s defender sale has left the side shorthanded at the back all season long. With only six true defenders on the squad, the side has played most of the season with only five on the roster.
Sitting third in the table, Arsenal are currently embattled in a major Champions League tie. Third Placed Arsenal are only four points ahead of seventh placed Tottenham. Any loss could result in the side missing out on Champions League soccer for the first time since 1997-98.
If Arsenal FC are to once again regain their spot atop the Premier League, the club may need to sack Arsene Wenger. Should Wenger manage to get the side playing a high level for the rest of the season, a reprieve may be given for the longtime boss.
With two years remaining on his contract following this season, Arsenal could find themselves between a rock and a hard place when it comes to doing what’s best for the future.
After all, Wenger led the Gunners to an undefeated Premier League campaign in 2003-04, winning the side’s last Premier League title. However, with the status quo at Arsenal becoming only qualification to the Champions League, Arsenal may need to make one of the toughest decisions in their history.
Failing to advance past the round of 16 in the Champions League for the last four seasons, that trend looks to continue thanks to the sides 3-1 home loss against Wenger’s former side AS Monaco.

A question does remain for the Gunners. Would the club force their longtime manager out? After all, Wenger has managed Arsenal for almost 19 years now.
Should Arsenal choose to make a move, that decision would likely come as soon as the season ends. Allowing proper time to find a replacement and allowing him to evaluate the squad as the transfer market would be key in the sides season.
However, knowing how Arsenal have reacted to troubling times during Wenger’s reign, it is tough to predict how they will go about their business. With both parties remaining loyal to each other through all these years, it is hard to imagine the Gunners firing Arsene Wenger.
With the supporters growing restless, though, the time may be sooner than later for Arsene Wenger’s inevitable departure from the North London side.
